Yamaha R15 Version 4 Review

The Yamaha R15 Version 4 is arguably the most sought-after bike available these days. This bike is popular because of its sporty performance, excellent accessibility and much more. The R15 series from Yamaha has been quite well received by the audience, so it’s no surprise that the manufacturer went above and beyond to make numerous upgrades to the 4.0 version.

This version of the Yamaha R15 takes most of its design cues from the bigger R series bikes from Yamaha. Some would even say that it looks quite similar to the YZF R7 released in 2021. With an aggressive and sharp-looking front end, along with the LED headlight inside the bikes faux air intake, R15 V 4 really stands out. What’s more, the LED lights flanking the headlamp look like a pair of angry eyes while also giving the bike a contemporary look.

The manufacturer claims that this bike is incredibly aerodynamic and can reach a top speed of 150kph with ease. R15’s side fairing looks fantastic and blends well with the racing blue paint job, along with the gloss and matte effect. As far as the fuel tank goes, it is well designed and more spacious than previous R15 variants, allowing riders to place their knees comfortably. While the tank appears to be bigger than V3s tank, the fuel capacity is still eleven liters. For more details, check out our review of the Yamaha R15 V3.

There is a notable improvement in the bike’s overall quality, especially compared to the V3, which received some criticism for some of its plastic-heavy areas. R15 V4 offers Bluetooth connectivity features along with an LCD display that offers email and SMS notifications. Unfortunately, though, the lack of navigation function holds the bike’s LCD display back a little bit.  That said, the display does come in handy, especially when you want to view your best and current lap time.

This bike’s seat is comfier than the previous versions with a height of 815 mm and while the footpeg positioning seems to be unchanged, the clip on placement has changed as they sit below the triple clamp. R15 V4s handlebar position is also lower compared to previous versions, making it look even sportier.

The four-valve, liquid-cooled and 155c single are the main reasons why the R15 V4 is heads and shoulders better than the previous versions. It would even be fair to say that this bike’s small-capacity engine is among the best out there. Compared to the V3, the V4s acceleration is far quicker, which is quite impressive considering how fast the V3 is.

This bike comes with a slick 6 speed gearbox and a smooth quickshifter (up only). Also, considering that this bike’s engine is mostly the same as the previous versions, its kerb weight is the same as the V3, which is 142 kg. V4s handling is excellent thanks to its USD fork, offering riders more stability than ever. This is particularly true when riders brake hard or charge through corners. The R15 V4 also comes with a traction control system, which is ideal for protection against shoddy and slippery roads. As far as the braking hardware goes, it is mostly the same as previous R15 iterations, and works perfectly fine.

Needless to say, the R15 V4 offers fantastic value for your money and definitely worth the investment, especially for those who love taking their bikes for long track rides.
