Yamaha MT-15 V1 Review

Yamaha’s MT-15 V1 is a famous hyper naked bike that was introduced in 2019. If you have been following Yamaha for a while, you will be well aware that the company is famous for taking risks. More often than not, their risks result in fantastic motorcycles for bike lovers across the globe. The MT-15s color scheme and overall appearance is exceptional and will especially be appreciated by those looking for a sporty-looking bike.

Many people compare the MT-15 V1 to the MT-9, which is a massive compliment to the former because both models share a sleek, sporty design. The bike is available in ice flue vermillion, dark matt blue and metallic black colors. The MT-15 V1 contains a single LED unit with low LED DRLs along with low and high beams. This is arguably one of the bikes most exceptional features, giving it a different look from other Yamaha street fighter bikes.

The fuel capacity of this bike’s tank is around 10 liters. What’s more, the MT-15 boasts a single piece seat that feels quite comfortable, especially when riding long distances. As far as the instrument cluster goes, this bike comes with a digital negative LED cluster, which is quite visible, even if the sun is shining brightly. The LED includes important things like a reset button, low battery indicator, low fuel indicator, digital clock, tachometer, rpm meter, digital speedometer etc.

This bike’s handlebars also have switches, including a self switch, high and low beam horns and pass switch. MT-15 V1s is BS6 compliant and the bike is powered by a 155cc 4 stroke, liquid cooled and 3 speed mesh transmission engine. The max power of the engine is 10,000 rpm, with a torque around 8500 rpm. The inclusion of a variable valve actuator along with a slip and assist clutch are some other noteworthy additions to this bike.

The MT-15 comes with disc brakes on the rear and front areas. The diameter of the front disc is around 282 mm while the diameter of the rear disc is around 220 mm. Yamaha provides single channel ABS for improving this bike’s brake performance, ensuring you have the vehicle in your control, even when riding at high speeds.

The absence of an aluminum rear swing arm is quite noteworthy, especially considering that it is present in most Yamaha bikes. Yamaha replaced this swing arm by installing a steel box type device. When it comes to performance, this bike really delivers, as it can easily cross 37 mph within three seconds. Overall, this bike is an excellent combination of aesthetics and functionality and will offer fantastic value for money.
