Best Alpinestars Dirt Bike Boots For Off Road Racing

We love Alpinestars boots for motorcycle rides. If you’re looking for a quality boot for motocross or off-roading, this is the best brand you can get.

My brother gave me a very valuable piece of advice once: invest in what’s under you… your bed when you sleep, your chair when you work, and your shoes when you walk. I laughed it off but years of suffering from a sore back, tired butt and blistered feet have taught me otherwise.

I’ve since added my own bit of advice: invest in your boots when you ride! Motorcycle gear is expensive and requires an initial investment but boots are one of the areas where you can’t afford to go for cheapies. However, there are good mid-range options that are affordable and quality. Here are the best Alpinestars Boots that you can invest in for your feet – and your budget!   Top Of The Range Alpinestars Motocross Boots

Why You Should Consider Alpinestars Dirt Bike Boots

A quick history of Alpinestars gives us some insight into the dedication and focus on quality assurance that the brand has offered since its inception back in the early 1960s. Alpinestars has been around since founder Sante Mazzarolo began creating a new boot for local motocross riders in northern Italy. The boots soon became a popular piece of motorcycle off-roading gear and the company has continued to produce top-quality racing gear ever since.

The boots that Alpinestars makes are not your standard everyday riding shoes (in fact we’ve done an updated in-depth guide to choosing motorcycle shoes for everyday riding) and we’ll do a quick recap here before explaining what makes Alpinestars boots different.

If Alpinestars is not your brand of choice for dirt bike boots, we’ve reviewed all the best dirt bike boots on the market for you to choose from. Read the detailed guide which covers the best enduro and trail riding boots.

Factors To Consider When Choosing Boots

Style

There are different types of motorcycle boots intended for different purposes such as off-roading, touring or just riding casually. Some boots are designed to offer more protection, while others provide both comfort and safety. As with regular footwear, your personal style will depend on several factors including preference, purpose and price.

Boot Height

Your own height, preferred style and purpose of riding will influence the required height of your boots. Short boots are fine for casual riding but off-roading, motocross and wintertime riding might be more enjoyable with high boots – refer to our guide for more information.

Quality

Boots need to have basic features such as a strong sole with good grip and abrasion, ventilation, toe sliders and sturdy closures. Remember, a good investment always comes at a price and your boots should be optimally designed to keep your feet safe, warm, dry and comfortable.

Size

Regardless of what type, motorcycle boots need to fit properly in order to offer maximum protection. Boots should fit snugly around the foot with minimal room for movement inside and the ankle should be secured – nobody has time for rolling ankles.

Alpinestars boots should be purchased with the above factors in mind. However, there are some additional features that these boots offer. Like the Italian brand, Sidi, Alpinestars boots target the off-road, motocross and all-terrain riders amongst us (motocross riders, this one’s for you!). These boots are not intended for casual riding; they are designed to offer ultimate protection against the elements for riders who are ready to face adventure.

What Do Alpinestars Boots Offer?

Ask anyone online, Alpinestars make some of the best boots out there. They are made to meet the highest standards when it comes to sealing out water and dirt, providing shock absorption, and fitting securely with a strong closure system. Interior lining needs to be comfortable and protective while toe areas should be slim enough to handle controls easily while riding.

The Alpinestars brand focuses on producing product ranges that are tailored for technical perfection and comprise different materials for better levels of protection. Materials such as full-grain leather, microfiber and poly-fabrics are used to make the boots lightweight yet high quality.

These motocross boots protect your lower legs, ankles and feet from things such as exhaust heat, grazes and even potentially fatal collisions. Aside from goggles and a helmet, boots are the most important piece of protective gear out there.

Another reason to trust Alpinestars motocross boots: they are continually developed and tested to introduce new features and ensure top quality. Some of the latest innovative features include the density foot chassis and ankle control system, as introduced in the new Tech 10 boots.

The foot chassis is injected with advanced polymer compounds to provide flexibility and stability. Inner ankle braces have pivot points to allow for rotation and freedom of movement without compromising on safety.

Boots need proper closure systems to ensure a snug fit – preferably, motorcycle shoes will have multiple closure systems to ensure that they protect the feet in case of impact. Alpinestars boots are equipped with closure systems that have a quick release and locking system. The buckle closures are strong and help improve motorcycle riding safety.

The designs are brightly coloured and stylish to boot – pun intended! White, black, red, blue, yellow in different patterns… the choices are endless. Of course, there are natural and simplistic styles in plain black, white and neutral shades of brown as well. There’s something to suit every taste and the coloring scheme really makes these an attractive fashion choice.

The Alpinestars Tech range presents some innovative motocross designs that are among the latest developments in the field of motocross and off-road motorcycling. This is the range that we’ll focus on for this review, since there are options to suit every budget and the technical design of these models is just awesome.

Keep in mind that some boots might require the use of an inner bootie. Inner booties from Alpinestars that are compatible with most Tech model boots are available in all sizes and have a built-in ankle brace for extra support. It’s nice being able to replace a smaller part of the boot if your pair is getting worn down without having to dish out hundreds of dollars.

The inner booties makes it easy to protect your feet and stay comfortable even if your boots are getting old – it’s so much effort to break in a new pair of boots, why not get a fresh pair of inners instead? Check out the inner bootie review below.

Ah, the Tech 10 boots. What can I say? It’s the benchmark boot for motocross riding – and not the casual kind. Alpinestars boasts these as being the most technical motocross boots ever conceived and they are a popular choice for professional motocross racers (even Redbull racers love them – how many Alpinestars pairs can you spot in the gallery?).

Everything is upgraded: a co-injected foot chassis for better flexibility, lightweight upper with leather and microfiber for better resistance, advanced closure system, ergonomic design for front and rear flexion support… and the list goes on.

Now, these babies are expensive but remember, invest in what’s under you. If you’re serious about pursuing motocross riding and plan to go off-road or enduro riding on a regular basis, these will prove invaluable.

  • Front and rear sliding blades
  • Structural stability and integrity

Modern day boots really have become a riders best friend. Especially with all the replaceable components.

Alpinestars Tech 8 Boots

The Alpinestars Tech 8 RS is the latest improvement over the Tech 8 Light boots. It packs a bunch of new features and has been built with new materials in mind.

My favorite component to this boot is the new inner bootie which is a massive improvement over the old half boot. In addition to the new bootie, the buckle system is built from aluminium and the whole boot comes in three eye catching colors.

What becomes very apparent as soon as you slide your foot into the new Alpinestars Tech 8 RS boot, is the comfort and sizing. The sizing is just right! With the older model sizing ran a bit large.

I would have to say that the biggest improvement is the new buckle system. It’s WAY easier to fasten and undo than the precious model where I would often have to kick the buckle against my wheel or a tree just to get it closed. Luckily for us brutes Alpinestars even have replaceable buckles for the Tech 8’s

A small improvement could have been made with a bit more attention to the footbed. While the inner bootie makes the Tech 8 RS incredibly comfortable, the footbed is still a bit hard which can be felt over longer rides when the inner bootie eventually compresses to a thinner comfort pad.

The reason for the change in construction material is to take advantage of lighter materials that offer the rider a much lighter boot. The Alpinestars Tech 8 RS weigh in at around 4.5 pounds which really does help over those longer distance rides.

Comfort : 5.0

Moving into the higher price class, the Tech 7 boots from Alpinestars are impressive in looks, performance and quality. This model has the widest available selection of design choices so if you are picky about matching your gear, this would be a good choice. There’s everything from plain white or black to pairs with accents in yellow, red, green and even orange – and they all look pretty damn cool.

I wouldn’t say I’m very picky (I’m sure my girlfriend will differ here, ha-ha!) but being able to choose the color I want and still getting top-notch features at a great price ranks right up there with the finer things in life.

Moving on to the Tech 5 Alpinestars, the price increases a bit but some awesome features have been added. This would be a good mid-range option for casual motocross riders. In motocross riding, a boot’s instep plays a major role in comfort, control and support. This pair has a redesigned instep with better flex zones, perfect for better manoeuvrability without hampering safety or being uncomfortable.

Closure systems are just as important and the Tech 5 boasts the same innovative quick-release/locking system but with well-constructed polymer and fiberglass buckle arms for added durability. Locked in and ready to go!

As a brand, Alpinestars is world-renowned for making top of the range gear and definitely top of the range dirt bike boots. They make sure to have an offer that would be appealing to riders of all different skill levels. The tech 5 is a boot made for the entry to intermediate rider. It offers all the core features one would need, however it does lack some of the techy stuff that one could expect in the Tech 7, Tech 8 and Tech 10.

What I do really like is all the replacement parts available for the Tech 5 which saves you from having to spend a ridiculous amount on repairs and/or a set of new boots. I’ve actually given the Tech 5 boots the title of best budget supermoto boots in this round up.

This one is a mid-range boot that offers fantastic features for novice to intermediate off-road riders. If you’ve ever fallen and scraped your shins as I have, you know how painful it is – and I’m willing to bet that you’ll pay a pretty penny to avoid ever undergoing that type of pain again. These boots have built-in contoured calf protector plates, the ultimate in footwear safety.

The Tech 3 also comes with a toe box for improved abrasion performance. The boots boast the new closure system from Alpinestars and include 3 polymer buckles that you can replace yourself if necessary. The quick release and locking system is also convenient and useful in case of emergency where boots need to be removed quickly.

One area on all of my boots that I end up having to replace is the soles. Either my foot position is off, my pegs are too sharp, or the soles are too soft – Or all of the above. I’m pretty sure it’s not my footpegs because I’ve done the research and I’ve picked the best dirt bike footpegs for my riding style, but either way, the Tech 3’s do have a replaceable sole which you can pick on Amazon.
